France: Business confidence hits highest reading since February 2018 in January
Business confidence came in at 112.4 in January, up from December’s 109.7. January’s result marked the best reading since February 2018. As a result, the index moved further above the 100-threshold, indicating optimism among businesses.
January’s higher reading was largely attributed to rising optimism with regards to finished-goods inventories. Moreover, sentiment over foreign book orders improved markedly compared to the previous month, while pessimism regarding overall order books eased significantly. On top of this, the feeling of economic uncertainty weakened among businesses managers.
