France: Business confidence rebounds in January
In January, the French Statistical Institute’s (INSEE) business climate indicator for the manufacturing sector rose to 100.0 from a revised 98.4 in December (previously reported: 101.8). As a result, the indicator landed on the 100-threshold, its long-term average.
Improving expectations of personal production ahead, coupled with a more positive perception of overall order books, drove January’s rise. In addition, manufacturers’ perception of past activity got rosier, as did their assessment of past workforce size.
