France: Consumer confidence increases in April, remains below long-term average
Consumer confidence came in at 83.0 in April, up from March’s 82.0. As a result, the index improved but remained entrenched below the long-term average of 100.
Sentiment improved regarding the living standards in France over the next twelve months and in the past twelve months. That said, concerns about future inflation worsened.
Meanwhile, households’ sentiments regarding their personal situations remained stable. Improvements in consumers’ expected financial situations and saving capacities were broadly offset by a drop in saving intentions and current saving capacities, as well as a worsening of consumers’ current financial situations.
