France: Economic sentiment eases in October
Economic sentiment came in at 93.5 in October, down from September’s 96.4. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected deteriorating sentiment in the industrial sector and dampened sentiment in the construction sector. Moreover, confidence in the retail sector and consumer confidence deteriorated in October. That said, sentiment in the services sector improved in the surveyed month.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index rose in October.
