France: Economic sentiment deteriorates in June
Economic sentiment came in at 97.2 in June, down from May’s 97.9. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected softer sentiment in the services and retail sectors, and improved sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors. Finally, consumer confidence waned in June.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index fell in June.
