France: Decline in industrial output softens in December
Industrial output dropped 0.2% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in December (November: -0.5% mom). Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing output growth rebounded in December. Meanwhile mining and quarrying, and energy output contracted a more pronounced pace in the same month.
On an annual basis, industrial production fell 0.5% in December, matching November’s fall. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 5.9% in December (November: +5.6%), signaling an improving trend in the industrial sector.
