France: Industrial output growth eases in June
Industrial output rose 12.7% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in June, following May’s 19.9% jump, which had marked the best result on record.
June’s print largely reflected a softer expansion in manufacturing output compared to the previous month. Moreover, mining and quarrying and construction output all rose at a more moderate pace than in May.
On an annual basis, factory output declined 11.7% in June, a less pronounced fall than May’s 23.4% contraction. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 8.0% in June, down from May’s minus 7.0% reading.
