France: Industrial output dips in August
Industrial output fell 0.3% month on month in seasonally-adjusted terms in August (July: +0.5% mom). August’s weakening was partly driven by a deterioration in manufacturing output. In addition, mining and quarrying production fell.
On an annual basis, factory output fell 0.5% in August, contrasting July’s 2.5% expansion and marking the worst result since January. Accordingly, annual average industrial production growth fell to 0.4% in August (July: +0.5%), signaling a worsening trend in the industrial sector.
