France: Industrial output rebounds in January
Seasonally- and working-day-adjusted industrial production rose 1.2% from the previous month in January, contrasting December’s 2.5% fall, which had marked the worst reading in six months. The upturn reflected an across-the-board rebound in output in in all three subcomponents of the index: manufacturing; mining and quarrying, energy, water supply and waste management; and construction.
On an annual basis, however, industrial production fell 2.8% (December: -3.0% year-on-year), while the annual average variation in industrial output logged minus 0.1%, contrasting December’s 0.3% outturn.
