France: Industrial output shrinks in September
In seasonally-adjusted terms, industrial output contracted 1.8% month-on-month in September, following a modest 0.2% uptick in August (previously reported: +0.3% month-on-month s.a.). September’s reading was driven primarily by a sharp fall in manufacturing, mainly in the transport equipment, and machinery and equipment categories.
On an annual basis, industrial output decreased 1.1% in September, contrasting a 1.5% increase in August. This sent annual average growth down to 2.1% from 2.5% a month earlier.
