France: Harmonized inflation rises in May
Harmonized inflation edged up to 2.6% in May, following April’s 2.4%. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures for food, housing and transport accelerated in May.
The trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 4.0% in May (April: 4.3%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 2.3% in May from April’s 2.2%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.15% over the previous month in May, moderating from the 0.62% increase seen in April. May’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
