France: Inflation edges down in July
Consumer prices decreased 0.2% month-on-month in July (June: +0.2% month-on-month), the lowest reading in six months, according to a provisional estimate released by the Statistical Institute (INSEE). The drop largely reflected a fall in prices for energy and manufactured goods.
Inflation eased to 1.1% from 1.2% in June, while annual average inflation, ticked down to 1.5% from 1.6%.
Harmonized consumer prices fell 0.2% month-on-month in July, down from the 0.3% increase in June, while harmonized inflation inched down to 1.3% from 1.4% in June. Similarly, annual average harmonized inflation edged down to 1.8% from 1.9% a month prior.
