France: Inflation falls in August
Consumer prices fell a seasonally-adjusted 0.09% from the previous month in August, contrasting the 0.38% rise logged in July, according to a preliminary reading by the Statistical Institute (INSEE). August’s result marked the sharpest decline in prices since January and largely reflected falling prices for manufactured products.
Similarly, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.1% in August, contrasting July’s 0.4% rise. Moreover, harmonized inflation dropped to 0.2% in August, below July’s 0.9%, while annual average harmonized inflation ticked down to 0.9% in August (July: 1.0%).
