France: Inflation falls in December
On 15 January, the Statistical Institute (INSEE) confirmed that consumer prices were stable from a month earlier in December, contrasting a 0.2% month-on-month decrease in November. Higher food prices were offset by lower fuel costs.
Inflation dipped to 1.6% from 1.9% a month earlier, while annual average inflation ended the year at 1.9%.
Harmonized consumer prices increased 0.1% from a month earlier (November: -0.2% month-on-month), while harmonized inflation slowed to 1.9% from 2.2% in November. Lastly, annual average harmonized inflation ended the year at 2.1%.
