France: Inflation slows in September
Consumer prices fell 0.3% month-on-month in September, contrasting August’s 0.5% rebound, according to the Statistical Institute (INSEE). The decrease largely reflected the seasonal downturn in certain tourism-related services. Core inflation, meanwhile, edged up 0.1%, from a 0.1% dip in August.
Inflation edged down to 0.9% from 1.0% in August, while annual average inflation ticked down to 1.3% from 1.4%. In contrast, core inflation sped up to 0.9% from 0.7% a month prior.
Harmonized consumer prices fell 0.4% month-on-month in September (August: +0.5% month-on-month), while harmonized inflation inched down to 1.1% from 1.3% in August. In turn, annual average harmonized inflation moderated to 1.5% from 1.6% a month prior.
