France: Inflation ticks down in March
On 11 April, the Statistical Institute (INSEE) reported that consumer prices rose 0.8% from a month earlier in March (February: +0.0% month-on-month). Higher fuel costs were behind the jump.
Inflation dipped to 1.1% from 1.3% in February, while core inflation landed at 0.5% (February: 0.7%). Annual average inflation, meanwhile, ticked down to 1.8% from 1.9%.
Harmonized consumer prices rose 0.9% from a month earlier (February: +0.1% month-on-month), while harmonized inflation slowed to 1.3% from 1.6% in February. Lastly, annual average harmonized inflation was stable from February at 2.1%.
