France: Harmonized inflation remains steady in September
Harmonized inflation came in at 5.7% in September, matching August’s reading. Moderating price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and housing and utilities offset a sharper increase in transportation prices.
The trend was unchanged, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at August’s 6.4% in September. Meanwhile, consumer price inflation was also unchanged, coming in at August’s 4.9% in September.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices dropped 0.57% in September over the previous month, swinging from August’s 1.10% rise. September’s result marked the weakest reading since January 2016.
