France: Harmonized inflation rises in December
Harmonized inflation came in at 4.1% in December, up from November’s 3.9%. Looking at the details of the release, transportation and housing and utilities prices rose at quicker rates in December compared to the previous month. On the flip side, price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages softened.
The trend pointed down mildly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 5.7% in December (November: 5.9%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation ticked up to 3.7% in December, from the previous month’s 3.5%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.14% in December over the previous month, contrasting November’s 0.24% fall.
