France: Harmonized inflation steady in January
Consumer prices fell 0.4% in January after rising 0.4% in December, according to a first estimate by Statistical Institute (INSEE). The downturn reflected falling prices for transport and energy, as well as lower prices for manufactured products due to winter sales.
Harmonized consumer prices decreased 0.5% month-on-month in January (December: +0.5%), while harmonized inflation came in at 1.6%, matching December’s print. Similarly, annual average harmonized inflation was steady at December’s 1.3%.
