France: Inflation edge down in September
Consumer prices fell 0.3% month-on-month in September, contrasting August’s 0.5% increase, according to the the Statistical Institute (INSEE). The decrease largely reflected the seasonal downturn in certain tourism-related services.
Inflation edged down to 0.9% from 1.1% in August, while annual average inflation ticked down to 1.3% from 1.4%.
Harmonized consumer prices fell 0.4% month-on-month in September (August: +0.5% month-on-month), while harmonized inflation inched down to 1.1% from 1.2% in August. In turn, annual average harmonized inflation moderated to 1.5% from 1.6% a month prior.
