Germany: Consumer sentiment expected to return to optimism in October
The GfK consumer climate index is forecast to rise to 0.3 in October from minus 1.1 in September. This would mark the first positive reading since April last year.
Backward-looking data for September, which is released at the same time and underpins October’s expectations, showed a broad-based improvement. Consumers’ economic and income expectations rose as well as their propensity to buy. Economic and income expectations have been buoyed by the recovery and the stable labor market in the country.
