Germany: Economic sentiment deteriorates in June
Economic sentiment ticked down to 92.1 in June from May’s 92.3. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected deteriorating confidence in the services sector and weaker sentiment in the retail sector and among consumers. That said, sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors improved.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were unchanged, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in June.
