Germany: Industrial output grows at fastest pace in over one year in February
Industrial production increased 2.1% on a calendar-adjusted month-on-month basis in February (January: +1.3% mom). The figure marked the best reading since January 2023. The rise was largely due to faster growth in manufacturing production. In addition, mining and quarrying production gained steam. Lastly, construction sector output rose at a stronger rate, while energy output fell at a steeper pace than in January.
On an annual basis, industrial output fell at a more moderate rate of 4.9% in February (January: -5.3% yoy). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 2.3%, down from January’s minus 1.9% reading.
