Germany: Harmonized inflation moderates in August
Harmonized consumer price fell 0.1% month-on-month in August, contrasting the 0.4% rise in July. The drop in the price level came on the back of cheaper furnishings and household equipment; transport; communication; and education. Meanwhile, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose less strongly.
Harmonized inflation edged down to 1.0% in August from 1.1% in July, while average harmonized inflation inched down from 1.8% in July to 1.7% in August. Lastly, consumer price inflation fell to 1.4% in August from 1.7% in the prior month and annual average consumer price inflation was stable at 1.7% for the third month running
