Germany: Merchandise exports decline in October
Merchandise exports fell 0.1% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in October (September: -2.5% mom s.a.). Meanwhile, merchandise imports fell 1.0% (September: -1.9% mom s.a.).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a EUR 18.0 billion surplus in October (September 2023: EUR 19.2 billion surplus; October 2022: EUR 6.1 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend pointed up, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a EUR 194.5 billion surplus in October, compared to the USD 182.5 billion surplus in September.
