Germany: Merchandise exports drop in February
Merchandise exports decreased 2.0% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in February (January: +6.3% mom s.a.). Meanwhile, merchandise imports rose 3.2% from January in February (January: +3.3% mom s.a.).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 24.7 billion surplus in February (January 2024: USD 22.6 billion surplus; February 2023: USD 18.4 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend improved, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 241.4 billion surplus in February, compared to the USD 235.1 billion surplus in January.
