Germany: Merchandise exports rebound strongly in November
Merchandise exports rose 3.8% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in November (October: -0.4% mom s.a.). Shipments rose most sharply to EU countries. Meanwhile, merchandise imports increased 1.6% (October: -1.1% mom s.a.).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a EUR 22.4 billion surplus in November (October 2023: EUR 18.0 billion surplus; November 2022: EUR 13.0 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend pointed up, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a EUR 204.4 billion surplus in November, compared to the USD 195.0 billion surplus in October.
