Ghana: Inflation comes in at highest level since April 2001 in December
Inflation rose to 54.2% in December, following November’s 50.3%. December’s result marked the highest inflation rate since April 2001. The pick-up was broad-based, with greater price pressures recorded for food and beverages, housing, transport, and clothing and footwear.
The trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 31.9% in December (November: 28.4%). Finally, consumer prices rose a seasonally adjusted 3.80% from the previous month in December, softening from the 8.60% rise recorded in November.
