Greece: Harmonized inflation moderates in February
Harmonized inflation came in at 3.1% in February, down from January’s 3.2%. The decline was driven by softer price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages. That said, housing and utilities prices fell at a more moderate pace in February compared to the previous month, while price pressures for transportation picked up pace.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 3.6% in February (January: 3.8%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation edged down to 2.9% in February, from the previous month’s 3.1%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.13% in February over the previous month, contrasting the 0.93% drop logged in January. February’s jump was the highest reading since September 2023.
