Guatemala: Economic activity records lowest expansion since February 2021 in September
Economic activity grew 2.8% year on year in September (August: +2.9% yoy). September’s result marked the worst reading since February 2021. Looking at a breakdown by sector, there was a positive performance of the trade, real estate, financial and accommodation sectors. As with last month, the ongoing drought in the Panama Canal likely exerted additional pressure on economic activity growth.
Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth fell to 3.6% in September (August: +3.7%), pointing to a worsening trend.
