Guatemala: Inflation eases in April, coming in just below the midpoint of Banguat’s target range
In April, consumer prices remained virtually stable, increasing only 0.04% from a month earlier, and contrasting the prior month’s stronger 0.23% month-on-month increase. April’s print came in significantly below the 0.30% average month-on-month change over the past seven years. Prices increased in the month for transport, alcoholic beverages and restaurants, while prices for recreation, food and communications decreased.
Inflation, meanwhile, moderated slightly from 4.1% in March to 3.9% in April. As a result, inflation came in just under the midpoint of Banguat’s target range of 3.0%–5.0%. Annual average inflation also ticked down from 4.1% in the prior month to 3.9% in April.
