Guatemala: Inflation hits highest level since December 2019
Consumer prices increased 1.41% in June over the last month, accelerating from May’s 0.19% increase. June’s result marked the sharpest increase in prices since July 2017. The print was driven by a strong surge in food as well as transport prices, with the latter due to the recent uptick in global oil prices.
Inflation rose to 2.4% in June, which was up from May’s 1.8%. June’s reading marked the highest inflation rate since December 2019. Annual average inflation ticked down to 2.4% in June (May: 2.6%).
