Guatemala: Inflation holds stable in August
Inflation held steady at July’s 4.5% in August, marking the weakest inflation rate since March 2022. There was little change in inflation for most groupings: Sharper price declines in food and alcoholic beverages, recreation, and housing were offset by sharper price increases for transportation, healthcare, plus hotels and restaurants. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 7.8% in August (July: 8.2%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.63% in August over the previous month, coming in below July’s 0.70% rise.
