Guatemala: Inflation rises in March but remains below target
Consumer prices rose 0.48% month-on-month in March, contrasting the 0.40% drop in February. The print was driven by a notable jump in food prices while alcoholic beverages and health prices also rose. This more than offset a marked drop in transport costs.
Inflation, meanwhile, rose from 1.2% in February to 1.8% in March, moving closer to the Central Bank’s 3.0%–5.0% target range, with the annual average inflation rate easing to 3.0% from 3.2%.
