Guatemala: Inflation slows to a near two-year low in January
Consumer prices increased 3.8% year on year in January, cooling from December’s 4.2% increase. January’s print marked the lowest reading since February 2022. The decline was broad-based, with lower price pressures recorded for food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities, and clothing and footwear.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down with annual average inflation falling to 5.7% in January (December: 6.2%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.03% in January over the previous month, compared to December’s 0.11% rise.
