Hong Kong: Inflation increases in December
Inflation edged up to 2.0% in December, above November’s 1.8%, amid faster price rises for food and transport. Mild domestic demand has likely capped inflation in recent months; inflation is far lower than in other developed economies.
The trend was unchanged, with annual average inflation coming in at November’s 1.9% in December.
Lastly, consumer prices increased a seasonally adjusted 0.19% in December over the previous month, matching November’s reading. December’s result marked the weakest reading since September.
