Hong Kong: Decline in retail sales softens in September
Retail sales decreased 1.5% compared to the same month of the previous year in September, which was a less pronounced drop than August’s 3.0% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, food, fuel and clothing sales plunged in September, while jewelry sales accelerated.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of retail sales coming in at minus 1.7%, down from August’s minus 1.2% reading.
