Hungary: Economic sentiment falls in February
The GKI economic sentiment index, a composite indicator, fell to minus 0.5 in February from plus 0.1 in January. February’s result was driven by worsening business confidence more than offsetting improving consumer sentiment.
Business confidence decreased to 5.3 in February from 6.4 in January. The print reflected declines in sentiment in the construction, industrial and trade sectors more than offsetting improving sentiment in the services sector.
Meanwhile, consumer sentiment rose to minus 17.0 in February from minus 17.8 in January due to households’ improved assessments regarding their own financial situation and ability to save.
