Hungary: Economic sentiment rises in January
The GKI economic sentiment index, a composite indicator, rose to plus 0.1 in January from minus 1.8 in December. January’s result was driven by improving business and consumer sentiment.
Business confidence increased to 6.4 in January from 4.4 in December. The print reflected increases in sentiment in the construction, industrial and trade sectors more than offsetting declining sentiment in the services sector.
Meanwhile, consumer confidence rose to minus 17.8 in January from minus 19.4 in December due to households’ improved assessments regarding their own financial situation and ability to save.
