Hungary: Economic sentiment weakens in September
The GKI economic sentiment index, a composite indicator, fell to minus 17.0 in September from minus 14.7 in August. September’s result was driven by deteriorating business and consumer sentiment.
Business confidence decreased to minus 9.0 in September from minus 7.1 in August. The print reflected worsening sentiment in the construction and trade sectors.
Meanwhile, consumer sentiment fell to minus 39.6 in September from minus 36.5 in August due to households’ deteriorated expectations over their future financial situations and willingness to buy big-ticket items.
