Hungary: Economic sentiment moves above threshold in June
Economic sentiment rose to 101.7 in June from May’s 98.2. June’s result marked the best reading since May 2022. Consequently, the index broke through the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected healthier sentiment in the industrial sector and improving confidence in the services sector. Additionally, consumer confidence rose in June. Meanwhile, sentiment in the retail and construction sectors deteriorated in the surveyed month.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index rose in June.
