Hungary: Economic sentiment decreases in July
Economic sentiment fell to 98.9 in July, down from June’s 101.7. Consequently, the index dipped below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected worse sentiment in the industrial sector and weaker confidence in the services sector. Meanwhile, July marked healthier sentiment in the construction sector and stronger sentiment in the retail sector. Finally, consumer confidence improved in July.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index increased in July.
