Hungary: Inflation recedes in May
Consumer prices increased 0.4% from the last month in May, swinging from the 0.6% drop logged in April. May’s reading was due to higher food prices, and, overall, marked the sharpest increase in prices since January.
Inflation came in at 2.2% in May, down from April’s 2.4%. May’s reading was the lowest inflation rate since March 2018. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.4% in May (April: 3.5%). Core inflation fell to 4.0% from April’s 4.3%.
