Indonesia: Inflation falls in June
In June, consumer prices increased 0.59% from the previous month, coming in above the 0.21% month-on-month increase observed in May. June’s print reflected higher prices in six of the seven categories of the index, with prices for transportation recording the sharpest increase. Prices for education, recreation and sport remained unchanged.
Inflation decreased from 3.2% in May to 3.1% in June, remaining within the Bank Indonesia target range for 2018 of 3.5% plus or minus 1.0 percentage point. Meanwhile, annual average inflation edged down from 3.6% in May to 3.5% in June.
Core consumer prices, which exclude volatile items such as food and administered prices, rose 0.24% over the previous month in June, coming in above May’s 0.21% increase. Core inflation was unchanged at 2.7% in June.
