Indonesia: Inflation dips in April, but remains within the Central Bank’s target range
Consumer prices increased 0.08% month-on-month in April, down from the 0.10% month-on-month rise in March. April’s uptick was driven mainly by higher prices for food, beverages and tobacco.
Inflation fell to 2.7% from 3.0% in March, but remained within Bank Indonesia’s target range of 3.0% plus or minus 1.0 percentage point. Inflation is expected to stay in the lower part of the target range this year, which should allow Bank Indonesia to continue to adopt a dovish stance in a bid to support the economy.
