Indonesia: Retail sales remains broadly unchanged in September
Retail sales decreased 2.2% year-on-year in September (August: -2.1% yoy). The sharper drop was largely driven by a deterioration in food, beverages, and tobacco sales. In addition, motor vehicles, parts and accessories sales fell notably. Lastly, cultural and recreation goods sales decreased at a softer rate, while information and communication equipment sales declined at a softer pace than in the prior month.
Meanwhile, the trend improved, with the annual average variation of retail sales coming in at minus 6.8%, up from August’s minus 7.3%.
