Indonesia: Retail sales growth dips in July
Retail sales grew 6.3% year on year in July (June: +7.9% yoy). July’s reading was driven by a sharper decline in sales of cultural and recreation goods, and information and communication equipment. In addition, growth in food, beverages, and tobacco sales softened. In contrast, motor vehicles, parts and accessories sales fell at a more moderate pace.
Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth rose to 2.5% in July (June: +2.4%). This signals an improving trend in the retail trade sector.
