Indonesia: Merchandise exports slide in June
Merchandise exports sank 21.2% in annual terms in June (May: +0.9% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports slid 18.3% over the same month last year in June (May: +14.3% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 3.5 billion surplus in June (May 2023: USD 0.4 billion surplus; June 2022: USD 5.1 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend pointed down, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 49.5 billion surplus in June, compared to the USD 51.2 billion surplus in May.
