Ireland: Composite PMI decreases in September
The AIB Composite Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 52.1 in September from August’s 52.6. Consequently, the index remained above the 50.0 no-change mark, pointing to a continued, albeit moderating, improvement in private sector operating conditions from the previous month.
The Manufacturing PMI declined to 49.6 in September from 50.8 in August, and the Services PMI to 54.5 from 55.0.
In the manufacturing sector, both output and new orders fell, while employment continued to rise. Meanwhile, both input and output prices fell and business sentiment weakened slightly.
In the services sector, output and new orders rose less, and employment continued to increase. Meanwhile, both input and output inflation eased while business sentiment remained optimistic.
