Israel: Inflation comes in at highest level since June 2011 in April
Consumer prices rose 0.77% in April over the previous month, picking up from the 0.58% rise logged in March. April’s figure marked the highest reading since June 2013. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food increased at a faster pace in April. Price pressures for transportation and communication also rose.
Inflation came in at 4.0% in April, which was up from March’s 3.5%. April’s reading was the highest inflation rate since June 2011, and was above the Central Bank’s 1.0–3.0% target range. Annual average inflation edged up to 2.6% in April (March: 2.4%). Lastly, core inflation rose to 3.5% in April, from March’s 3.1%.
